Throwback Photo of the Week

[L-R: S-Endz, Diamond, MTV Presenter, Sups]

This picture comes from our tour of India back in 2005 during which we did a sick performance at the MTV Style Awards in Mumbai. We performed a medley of ‘DesiRock’ and ‘DesiRock Part II’ at the main event. There was a catwalk in the middle of the stage with hot models strutting their stuff up and down while we performed. We performed at the afterparty too - which, in keeping with the military theme of the event, had the DJ setup enclosed inside a massive front-half of a tank. This picture comes from an interview that we did with MTV whilst there.

Prince on Family Guy!

Posted in Family Guy, Prince on November 18th, 2008 by S-Endz

OK, what is this? Make-fun-of-Prince-in-cartoons month?

First it was The Simpsons. Now Family Guy!

In this week’s episode, Brian and Frank Sinatra Jr purchase a big-band club. Stewie promptly turns it into a hot dance club, and when Brian and Frank show up wearing tuxedo’s, Stewie says "You’re more out of place than Prince was on The Price Is Right!"

Cut to a scene, of, guess what, our royal purple one as a contestant. Again with the 1983 outfits and soft, high voice! Come on animators, if you’re gonna parody someone, DO IT RIGHT!!!

A couple of months ago, a film crew from the channel NDTV flew over from India in order to follow us around for a couple of days and make a documentary about us. This picture is from the filming of that documentary. Enjoy!

Was it wrong for The Simpsons to kill Prince?

Posted in Prince, The Simpsons on November 5th, 2008 by S-Endz

I don’t know how many of you saw the latest episode of ‘The Simpsons’. It’s the latest in their ‘Treehouse of Horror’ Halloween specials.
In one part of this new episode, Homer is hired to kill celebrities so that a corrupt advertising agency can use the likeness of those celebrities without having to pay them. Of course, given Prince’s recent battles on the Internet to have control over his image, he was a prime candidate to be spoofed.

After a Prince gig, Homer is shown to grab Prince’s symbol-shaped guitar and beat him to death with it. This segment climaxes with the ghosts of celebrities coming down from heaven to exact their revenge.

Killing a loved celebrity in the name of a comedy show is always risky business. There are some that will find it tasteless, and others that won’t care and find it funny. Of course, the scale of the reaction depends on the loyalty of the fans, and Prince has some very loyal fans indeed.

YES WE DID!

Posted in Barack Obama on November 5th, 2008 by S-Endz

It’s official folks. Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States! Of course, you don’t need me to tell you that.

I hope you all caught his inspiring acceptance speech. I personally was awake at 4am here in the UK watching what was going down. I admit to shedding a tear thinking about the struggles that people like Martin Luther King and Afeni Shakur went through so that something like this would be possible. And this is why I love America. Not just because I enjoy playing shows there or visiting my immediate family. But because, in America, anything is possible.

Go Barack! I, and millions of others support you in a way many of us have never felt about a politician. I knew that from the beginning, and it was reinforced when JFK’s sister said she hadn’t seen a politician have this much support from the public since her brother was alive.

We all saw those idiots on TV over the last few months spreading falsities about Obama for no reason other than racism. For too long, these people were the ones holding America down like a ball and chain. I am proud that the USA has been able to overcome that. A change was needed and a change is finally here. We embrace you with open arms. Make us proud, President Obama! We all have faith.

I am so happy right now. The American dream is in full effect. Don’t let anyone hold you down, and as I’ve told you before…. ‘DON’T HOLD BACK!".

S-Endz featuring Kidd Skilly

Kidd Skilly is one of a very small number of Desi rappers that I have respect for.  So when he swung by my home town for a show a few months back, you know we had to kick it and work on some super hot shit. The original track, ‘She’s Like My Shadow‘ is set to appear on my forthcoming album ‘Emanate’, alongside this remix…..check out Skilly and I droppin some hot fire over a beat I produced that represents exactly what neofunk is about. You can also catch this remix on Skilly’s new mixtape, ‘Undercover Superstar‘.

Check out the new space-age video we just released for our new single, ‘Electro Jugni‘. The track was written by myself and Diamond (DJ Swami) and the video was directed by x1x Film & Design. Look out for the video for the English version of the song, ‘She’s Mine‘ coming soon, and the digital release of the new EP ‘Electro Jugni/She’s Mine‘ next month. Video should be hitting TV screens worldwide in the near future.
